Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)

Understanding the Canadian Dental Care Plan

The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is an initiative by the Government of Canada aimed at making dental care more affordable and accessible. It targets individuals who may struggle to afford essential dental treatments, thereby supporting their oral health.

How the CDCP works

Commencing in May 2024, the CDCP will offer publicly funded dental benefits to those without private dental insurance and with a household income under $90,000. This plan will help cover a portion of dental treatment costs, aiding in the prevention and management of oral health issues, which can also help prevent more serious health conditions.

What to do if you want to apply

As of November 2024, seniors aged 65 and above, children under 18, and adults with a valid disability tax credit certificate are eligible to apply. Starting in 2025, all remaining eligible Canadian residents can apply online through the official Government of Canada website.
